Tryon Farm Guest House

Our destination is popular with visitors who seek the unique experience of sharing an immersion lifestyle in Michiana, where guests can enjoy the area while living like a local.

Located ten minutes from most area attractions our farmhouse is close to the southern beaches of Lake Michigan, Lighthouse Outlet Shopping, and the Uptown Arts District. Museums, farmers markets, antique shops, local parks, southwest Michigan’s Harbor Country, and many outstanding restaurants are popular places of interest.

Tryon Farm Guest House is a boutique hotel offering breakfast to guests in a home-stay setting. This Hoosier Hospitality Award winner is the only licensed lodging of its type in Michigan City, Indiana. Guests can relax knowing that their safety, food service, and fire protection is professionally inspected and approved.

Our Story

Built in 1896, our house was the homestead of Charles Tryon’s horse powered farm. The iconic barn served as the command center of the property. No doubt Mr. Tryon was proud to have modern in-door plumbing in his brick home when straw hats, overalls, and long dresses were in style on the frontier of Indiana.

In the 1940’s the Tryon family decided to move further west. The new owners, Walter and Nellie Werner raised dairy cattle in the spirit of agricultural America.

Farmer Werner sold Tryon Farm to Ed and Eve Noonan in the early 1990’s. With over 150 acres of meadows, prairies, woods, and ponds, the Noonan’s honored the land’s heritage and repurposed it as a housing community and nature preserve.

Tryon Farm Guest House continues its role as the anchor of the homestead, welcoming guests to share in the preservation of natural farmland.
