Tryon Farm Guest House is conveniently located in Michigan City La Porte, Indiana on the southern coast of Lake Michigan. With Southwest Michigan just a few miles north, Chicago only 60 miles away, and South Bend a quick forty minute drive east, Michigan City is a great homebase to plan a trip with lots of variety. Beaches, hiking, shopping, nightlife, festivals, and unique dining, we have it all.

It's that time of year again. Get the family together and head on over to NW Indiana for some blueberry picking. Use Tryon Farm Guest House as your home base. Billy Boy's Blueberry Barn is one of our favorite spots. There you'll find 10 acres of blueberry bushes with seven different varieties blooming throughout the season.

LaPorte County Fair
Dates: July 18-24, 2010
4-H exhibits, cattle judging, horse & pony competition, draft horse competition, carnival rides, pioneer land events, free entertainment, grandstand shows (Billy Currington), antique tractor displays, commercial displays and food vendors are just a few of the events you can catch this year at the LaPorte County Fair.

2010 Great Lakes Grand Prix
Dates: August 3-8, 2010
The LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau invited Super Boat International back to Michigan City for the Second Annual Great Lakes Grand Prix, to be held at the beautiful Washington Park Beach on the southern shore of Lake Michigan.

The Michigan City In-Water Boat Show

Lakefront Art Festival
Dates: August 21-22, 2010
The Lakefront Art Festival attracts thousands of visitors from surrounding states to a festive, high-quality event held in a park setting on the shore of Lake Michigan. The festival, a major annual fundraiser for the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, is overseen by arts professionals committed to making every aspect of the festival a quality venue for artists and visitors. The park is accessible to motorists, cyclists, foot traffic and boaters alike.

International Friendship Garden Season
Dates: May - October
As the end of summer approaches, come spend a hot lazy day meandering through the shade at Friendship Gardens. These historic gardens are open through October and offer a fantastic variety of different plants and gardening styles to keep you fascinated all day.

Michigan City Farmers Market & Riverside Farmers Market
Dates: May - October
The Mainstreet Association sponsors the Farmer's Market every Saturday from May through October on the corner of 8th and Washington Streets in Michigan City. Open from 8am until Noon, the Farmer's Market (just one block east of Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall) features locally-grown fruits and vegetables in season as well as craft items, flowers, and herbs. This Farmer's Market offers entertainment and education, as well, through local organizations. Bake sales, wine tastings, Alpaca wool spinning and other special events will take place at the Farmer's Market this season.
