On this the last day of summer we look back over another season of fun and sun @TryonFarmGuestHouse. Thank you to all guests who shared time with me and each other.
Our lake towns of La Porte and Michigan City had a wonderful summer filled with new restaurant openings, boat shows, firework displays, parades, first Friday art events, a county fair, pageants, theatre, concerts, farmers markets, outlet shopping, hiking in the Dunes, and finally sunsets and swimming overlooking Lake Michigan.
Many of our guests have made a visit to our farmhouse an annual event, returning each year for a familiar experience. Along with the usual escape from Chicago’s high energy, guests often seek a peaceful change of scenery. We’ve had life transitions to celebrate including births, graduations, weddings, and family reunions. European guests from Bavaria, the land of castles and Oktoberfest, enjoyed a fully American stay. Finally, we’ve had vacationing family and friends who lived like a local over several days by cooking out, sitting around a bonfire, swinging in the hammock, counting the fireflies, stargazing, hiking our trails, and sleeping late.
Fall here is cooler temperatures, harvest moons, football games, pumpkins, corn stalks, and sunflowers; all enhanced by red, gold, orange, and yellow leaves. We’re moving into a quieter season where we breathe in deeply the beauty of our surroundings. No wonder that fall is the ’thankful’ season!
