Michigan City’s historic lakefront with spacious beachfront, boat marina, naval armory, lighthouse museum, splash pad, Zoo, gazebo, bandstand, and amphitheater is the location for all of our favorite things. On a clear day the skyline of Chicago can be seen across Lake Michigan, and our sunsets rival any experienced on coastal oceans.
Seasonal festivals, visits by tall ship replicas, holiday light displays, Grand Prix boat races, leisurely canoe paddling, and dune hikes along Lake Michigan and Trail Creek are all local south shore treasures.
The park has a strong history evidenced by several WPA buildings, war memorials and monuments, and an observational tower.
Washington Park has a past, a present, and a future of being a Midwest destination that is cherished.
